The world’s first automated lighting control system that integrates energy harvesting, sensors and RF communication in a single, powerful solution offers virtually unlimited configurability using only four modules.

The modules provide the flexibility to create simple and small installations for homes or large-scale, complex installations for massive office buildings.

The four modules are the PTM 200C for wall-mounted light switches, the RCM 100 Receiver, the STM 110 Sensor Transmitter and the TCM 110 Repeater. EnOcean provides the modules to OEMs who package them into their own products.

The PTM 200C comprises an electro-dynamic energy harvester, mechanics for a rocker switch, 315 MHz RF (radio frequency) transmitter and antenna. The switch can accommodate single or double pushbutton switch designs and handheld controllers, and can encrypt signals. It can communicate with an unlimited amount of receivers and offers either manual on and off operation, or manual on and automatic off.

The RCM 100 Receiver evaluates transmitted signals and, if they are valid, actuates lighting control. The receiver is located at the light fixture, is easily hard-wired to it and can respond to up to 30 switches. It can execute a variety of user-determined functions via a serial interface and can integrate EnOcean transmitters into existing bus systems. Remote signals can be sent via the Internet for unlimited range.

The switch and receiver form a basic, battery-free wireless lighting control system. A three-step identity-learn sequence quickly connects the switch and receiver wirelessly. First, pressing a learn button on the receiver(s) initiates the learn mode. Second, pressing the rocker on the switch assigns the switch to the receiver(s). Re-pressing the learn button on the receiver(s) exits the learn mode. A receiver can respond to as many as 30 switches and three- and four-way switches can be created.

The sensor transmitter and repeater modules add functionality and range. The STM 100 Sensor Transmitter enables brightness sensors for dimming. It requires less than 19 foot-candles to generate electricity, can store energy for several days and functions even in total darkness. An hour of office-intensity light will power the transmitter for 14 hours.

The TCM 110 Repeater receives signals from EnOcean transmitters and forwards them to EnOcean radio actuators. The repeater amplifies signals or serves as a two-way interface to bus systems. It fits easily in flush-mounted socket outlets and combines with a bus coupling unit.
