Gimme Five – Markus Brehler

[...]3. There are a lot of exciting things happening in telematics – don’t you miss being involved?

I was in traffic telematics for many years. This was just taking off then with cars getting internet access. There is now more and more communications in the transportation market. We see M2M growing here. We thought back then that the adoption cycle would be three years; this turned out to be more like ten years. But if you look at things like parking ticket machines, ninety percent have a GSM module. It is happening but it is not always visible. People don’t see the direct link. With our technology, if you visit buildings and ask the tenants they will not have noticed the technology. It is there but it is invisible. This is good. Technology should serve people but not in a way that makes itself visible.
