Inefficiencies in energy consumption are evident from everyday examples. Windows are open when the air conditioning is running, the heating is on day and night, or the lights are on in rooms even though no one is there. According to studies, buildings are responsible for around 40 percent of global CO<sub>2<\/sub> emissions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In order to rethink energy management and optimize it sustainably, everyone needs to change the way they act. An even simpler way is: automation. Automation can be supported by technologically sophisticated and user-friendly products and IoT-based solutions from EnOcean helping owners and tenants of houses, commercial buildings and industrial facilities to sustainably reduce energy consumption and CO<sub>2<\/sub> emissions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Smart, smart, smart \u2026<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>There are extensive efforts and activities to manage houses, buildings and industrial facilities intelligently. &#8216;Smart buildings&#8217;, &#8216;smart spaces&#8217; and &#8216;smart homes&#8217; are intelligent approaches that are playing an increasingly important role. Especially in offices, retail, healthcare, educational institutions and hotels. In <a class=\"ek-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.enocean.com\/en\/iot\/sensors-revolutionize-industry-40\/\">industrial production<\/a>, for example, sensors provide important data for quality control, process monitoring and automation. The intelligent solutions used with EnOcean technology make a valuable contribution. Energy management in rooms, like <a class=\"ek-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.enocean.com\/en\/smart-lighting\/smart-lighting-systems\/\">smart lighting<\/a>, is efficient, sustainable and environmentally friendly. The savings potential is enormous. IoT-based <a class=\"ek-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.enocean.com\/en\/smart-heating\/smart-heating\/\">smart heating<\/a> can save 20 percent of energy in residential buildings and as much as 30 percent in commercial buildings, as there is even less attention paid to manual energy saving.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Intelligent control and monitoring of energy consumption in rooms<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The central component of sustainable, optimum energy management in rooms is intelligent control and management of energy consumption. EnOcean provides users with valuable solutions that comply with current legal regulations. These use innovative energy harvesting technology, with which energy for wireless sensors and actuator components is obtained from alternative ambient sources. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is complemented by the clever use of communication technologies and data-based IoT applications. Gateways and configuration tools as well as the SmartServer IoT ensure communication with the actuators. The sensors and actuators can thus communicate with the heating, air conditioning and lighting. And the IoT also helps to identify patterns and trends over time using artificial intelligence in the cloud. A further savings effect is achieved through predictive maintenance and condition-based maintenance.
