The crucial role of energy in all technical processes and systems fascinated me from an early age. I was able to put my knowledge on a solid foundation by studying physics at Chemnitz University of Technology and later in my professional life, in particular through many projects in the central research and development department of Siemens AG. Our team there had been researching the fundamentals of the use of ambient energy and developing battery-free wireless technology since 1995.

As a co-founder of EnOcean GmbH, I was able to provide significant impetus in innovation and product development and help the new technology achieve a breakthrough, particularly in the building sector. This pioneering work resulted in numerous industrial mass products as well as more than 40 international patents and numerous publications.

The increasingly conscious use of energy and the merging of our technology with the IoT has created new fields of application and also motivated broad sections of industry and society to use battery-free wireless technology.

This development creates new challenges and requires further technological innovations, and I am proud to drive this forward as VP Innovation at EnOcean and in the partner network and to pass on my experience.
