The new Caritas IllerSenio care home in Vöhringen is setting new benchmarks. Even before its official opening in December, it is already regarded by experts as one of the most modern and forward-thinking care facilities in Germany. The building was constructed entirely using sustainable hybrid timber modular construction. It combines innovative architecture with a clear vision for the future of care.
After carefully evaluating various systems, IllerSenio deliberately chose IQFY technology. “It uses EnOcean’s energy-harvesting wireless platform, which centers on battery- and cable-free sensors,” emphasizes Andreas Thometzek, Managing Director of IQFY GmbH. This combination is redefining care, safety, and sustainability.
“It was important to us to choose a system that is reliable in the long term, maintenance-free, and ecologically meaningful. IQFY convinced us completely,” explains Dominik Rommel, Managing Director of Caritas IllerSenio gGmbH.

“The resulting overall and technology concept marks a milestone in the development of future care facilities. It is a one-of-a-kind lighthouse project in Germany—one that will serve as a model nationwide for the future of care,” Thometzek emphasizes.
IQFY – Safety Standards from the Global Market Leader in Care
The decision was no coincidence: IQFY has been recognized multiple times as a global market leader. The company is considered a leading provider of secure assistance systems for people with dementia. The specially developed IQcare systems reliably detect movement patterns. They discreetly record bed status and and automatically alert staff when a potentially dangerous situation occurs – for example, when a resident attempts to leave the bed unnoticed at night.
The sensors used rely on energy-harvesting EnOcean technology. Drawing power from their environment, they require no cabling or batteries. The result: an almost maintenance-free, sustainable system that provides significant time savings and greater certainty in everyday care.

In everyday care, every second counts. Sensors in the IQcare mattress detect when a person leaves their bed and inform care staff in real time. This allows falls to be prevented early and residents to be better protected. The system is complemented by evacuation covers, which allow bedridden individuals to be safely and easily evacuated in an emergency. This provides enormous relief for the caregiving staff.
Because all components operate completely wirelessly and energy-autonomously, there is no need for complex installation, power connections, or maintenance intervals. The technology remains invisible to residents while acting in the background as a permanent safety net.
