Flexible PoE Lighting Control with EnOcean Wireless Technology
September 1, 2026
Trexxler Energy Solutions from Magnolia, Texas, is a specialist in customized office and residential solutions using Power over Ethernet (PoE).
A customer tasked the company with delivering an efficient lighting control system for a new medical facility in Huntsville, Texas. This facility needed individual fixture control, occupancy-based automation, and a solution that would reduce installation time and eliminate costly conduit.
Flexibility Thanks to PoE and EnOcean Technology
Trexxler implemented the Denton Digital Building Intelligence (DBI) PoE lighting platform, integrating EnOcean wireless occupancy sensors to provide cable-free occupancy detection and intelligent lighting control. Together, the solution enables individual fixture control, scheduling, remote access, and scene management while simplifying installation and future modifications.
Lower installation costs, faster deployment, and long-term adaptability
The combination of PoE and EnOcean wireless technology reduced installation time to one quarter of that required for a conventional high-voltage installation, while eliminating expensive conduit. “The system can be controlled and designed to meet the user’s needs. And if a retrofit or remodel is necessary, changing fixtures and cabling is extremely simple thanks to EnOcean technology. Where rewiring with standard electrical infrastructure might take days, with PoE it only takes hours”, explains Morgan Lutrell, CEO at Trexxler Energy Solutions. The project achieved approximately USD 45,000 in savings compared with alternative solutions. Operational savings are more than USD 9,500 per year, and the ROI is less than 12 months. The EnOcean wireless sensors also provide the flexibility to adapt spaces quickly and cost-effectively as building needs change.
